Important Information for Mac OS 8.5/8.6/9.0 Customers
If you have Mac OS 8.5/8.6/9.0 installed on your Power Macintosh computer you should only install the Internet Explorer 4.5 and Outlook Express 5.0 software if you DO NOT already have them installed.
If you do not wish to install the latest version of Internet Explorer/Outlook Express or you have them already installed you can configure your Power Macintosh to use Virgin Net by following the instructions below. This will setup your Power Macintosh and the Internet software already installed on your computer to use Virgin Net.
1. Open the "Assistants" folder on your hard disk.
2. Double-click on the "Internet Setup Assistant" icon.
3. Answer yes to "Would you like to set up your computer to use the Internet?".
4. Answer no to "Do you already have an Internet account?". You should answer no even if you already have an account with Virgin Net. This will allow us to configure your Macintosh for you.
5. Click the right arrow to continue.
6. Select the correct settings for your modem and then click the right arrow to continue.
7. Select the "Click here if you want to register with an ISP" option even if you are already registered with Virgin Net. Click the right arrow to continue.
8. Click the right arrow to continue.
9. Select Virgin Net from the list of ISP's.
Please note on older versions the Virgin Net selection may describe a monthly subscription charge. This information is incorrect there is NO monthly subscription charge for connecting to Virgin Net (You may select a monthly charge during registration to receive local rate technical support).
10. Click the right arrow to continue.
11. Click the right arrow to continue.
12. Click the right arrow to continue.
13. Click the "Go Ahead" button to connect to Virgin Net.
14. Once you have connected to the Virgin Net registration server (which may take a minute or so) select the appropriate option (new or current user) and follow the on-screen instructions.
15. Once you have provided the required information you will be disconnected from the registration server.
16. Your Macintosh will be setup and is then ready to connect to Virgin Net.
